37 years ago, Carl Sagan imagined an ‘Encyclopaedia Galactica’, a “vast repository of the knowledge of many worlds”. Parallax is a six-part series of video essays that wonders what this Encyclopaedia Galactica might look like. What do we learn when we step outside of our myopic, planetary view and see life from a different perspective? Find out, in this survey of an alien world.
Parallax is a collaboration with UK-based filmmaker Adam Westbrook and is a crowd-funded project on Patreon.com.
Dale is providing the original score to the series. The first two episodes premiered at the end of May and the third instalment in the series will be online later in the summer, with the sixth and final episode being completed before the end of 2017. Parallax provides a peculiar but thought-provoking planetary perspective.

The project brief:
“Work with special needs children and bring their inner superheroes to life — literally!”
During fun and immersive sessions with 20 kids selected from the Al Noor Center For Children With Special Needs, we asked them to describe what they would be like if they were a superhero. Their narratives and interaction was captured in real-time by a concept artist, sketching an "avatar" of what each one of the children described about their super alter ego. Then by using 3D printing technology, the folks at Generation 3D did a wonderful job to bring them to life in the form of an action figure! Using the magic of facial scanning technology together with 3D printing, they transformed these digital avatars into life-like figurines with the children's faces on the bodies of their superhero selves!

Last November, Chai Sutta Productions entered in the annual 48 Hour Film Project to compete with the other teams in the Dubai filmmaking competition. Though Remembrance did not succeed in the competition (due to disqualification) it went on to tour multiple international film festivals. After its year abroad, the film is now available for viewing online here.
The 48 Hour Film Project is held every year in cities all around the globe. Teams are all given a specific character, prop, and line to use in the film, but draw a random genre, such as Comedy, Drama, Horror, Family, Musical. They then have 48 hours to create the film from scratch and present it to the judges for evaluation. For Dubai's 2014 festival, the character was "Hala Ramzy, Spanish teacher", the prop "a watch", and line "Try to keep calm." Unfortunately it was a seemingly minor mistake of using the line "Try to be calm" which disqualified the film from the competition. Though it was a disappointment to the entire team to be disqualified, they could still take pride in the film they managed to create in only 48 (sleepless) hours!
Catch the premier of Remembrance tonight at 19:30, AM Studios, Dubai. Remembrance is the Chai Sutta Productions team's short film submission for the 2014 Dubai 48-Hour Film Project. Original score by Dale Nichols.
In the fall of 2010 I was on a road trip with my friend Gašper, exploring northern Slovenia. We started the excursion from Ljubljana and headed for the hills, to a traditional herdsman settlement high up on an alpine plateau called Velika Planina; a very interesting site to visit. From there the mountain roads continue, twisting and turning north toward Solčava, Logarska Dolina, and the Pavlič Pass over the Austrian border. On the route there, not far south of the settlement of Luče, is this old mill on the side of the road. It’s called Žagerski Mlin. The mill is over 250 years old and is the only operating watermill in the upper Savinja Valley. In 1990 there was a flood in the area, causing damage to the mill, however it was restored in 1996. Gašper and I stopped for some photos and a hike around the location before continuing on our journey. The place certainly left an impression on me, and so I decided to use one of the photographs I took there and turn it into the cover art of the EP.

To add to the colourful eye-candy, Dale Nichols provides an original music soundtrack for the film blended with additional sound effects by both Dale & Ole-André.
Flytande Væsker makes its premier as one of the featured entries of the online Creative Arts Film Festival, which streams its films for the entire month of December. All of the films can be viewed for free at http://www.creativeartsfilmfestival.com
